Women With Two Vaginas

"women-with-two-vaginas"The furore over women with two vaginas began with a British woman on my favourite programme, Embarrassing Illnesses.

This lady came to the surgery to ask for help as to whether she would be able to have children as she was born with two vaginas and two uteruses (uterii?) each served by one Fallopian tube.

She first realised that she had a problem at school when asking a friend about tampons. Her question as to whether her chum inserted into the left or the right was met with consternation and she never mentioned the subject again and, yes, she also believes that she has two periods since her bleeding lasts for up to 21 days.

Fortunately, the British surgeon confirmed that pregnancy was possible since the uterus that had conceived would push the other redundant version out of the way. However, she had to be careful to use contraception when she was pregnant to prevent conception in the other womb via that vagina.

Once the word got out, she was interviewed by Tyra on American TV and then it became apparent that this condition was not so rare as had first been thought, when five women all appeared on the show to tell their stories.
