Vaginal Barbell

When I asked Stephanie at Stressnomore if I could try the vaginal barbell, I hadn’t quite thought it through.

Sure, I can hold the silicone cones until the cows come home whilst standing up. But that’s because the good tone of my external muscles and general shape of my vagina hold the bulbous end of the cone in place without too much additional effort from me.

The barbell was a whole different kettle of fish. It rather reminded me of one of my favourite toys, The NJoy Funwand… only the barbell has the emphasis on wand rather than fun.

I have to confess that, when I use my Kegel 8 Tight & Tone, I have to wear pants to help keep the probe in place if I want to stand up and move around the house. Whilst the Tight & Tone’s probe has straight up and down sides, it’s quite light so I knew that the weight of the barbell was going to require a lot of effort on my part, especially when it comes with the claim:

“Designed in the US the Pelvicisor or vaginal barbell is guaranteed to give any women the tightest PC muscles in the world”.

Gulps!

It’s about 6.5″ long x 1″ wide at its fattest and is made of Medical Grade Stainless Steel, which means that it’s more hygienic because it can be sterilised or boiled and it won’t rust or harbour germs and bacteria. But the biggest attraction is its weight because, by making the barbell heavy, you have to work extra hard to keep the device in place when you’re standing up. And, of course, the harder you squeeze, the stronger your pelvic floor muscles will get.

It is designed for women like me who already have good muscle tone but want to improve things even further (read masochists) and the smooth metal provides friction-free insertion, which means that it is a lot easier than getting the silicone cones inside. However, the downside of that is that it’s a lot harder to contract your muscles around and retain.

Oh, and apparently, if you cool it and stick it up your bum, it’s great for piles – something which can definitely not be said of the FunWand with all it’s bobbles.

My first observation is that you wouldn’t want to drop it on your toe so I started off kneeling down. If I cheated, I could hold it in situ from the other end with my thighs but, doing it properly I managed about ten seconds at full squeeze before I could feel it slithering its way southwards, landing on the floor with a thud.

I think this definitely requires more work!
