I expect you’re probably wondering what this is all about.
Wednesday 10th March is National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, a nationwide initiative to raise awareness of the increasing impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls.
Last year, to mark this day, Karyn of The Fabulous Giver and Luvvie of Awesomely Luvvie came up with the idea of The Red Pump Project.
The concept is simple: Rock the Red Pump on your blog to represent the strength and courage of women fighting HIV/AIDS or affected by the disease both directly and indirectly.
On Wednesday March 10th, you can either place the Red Pump widget in your sidebar or embed it within a post recounting your own experience of the issue.
Join The Red Pump Project and help spread awareness of National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.
To sign up to participate, please email brittany [at] theredpumpproject [dot] com
If you sign up, she will send you instructions and the html code of the widget.
For more information on National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, go to www.womenshealth.gov/NWGHAAD where you will be able to learn how the initiative started and look up any local events in your area.
Last year, the goal was 100 bloggers, but over 125 responded and ‘Rocked the Red Pump’
on March 10th, 2009!
The Red Pump Project is now a national initiative with 30 ambassadors in 20 states raising awareness about the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls.
I may not be from the US, but any initiative which promotes the good health of women is something that I want to actively support.
I really hope that you will be able to join me.

I’ll absolutely participate. HIV/AIDS awareness needs to be constantly taught.
