Ruf and I had just had sex. And we stuck on a bit of day-time television to fill the time as we relaxed before doing it again.
Jeremy Kyle rules the airwaves with various episodes on several of the available channels. Chavvy, mostly unemployed, adolescents bringing their violent, selfish angst to our living rooms.
Arguments over the parentage of existing and impending offspring where the tangled webs of intercourse leave you watching with your mouth open.
Lie detector test results and admonishments from the host about responsibility to both family and State.
And then This Morning, where one of the segments was on having sex when your child is in the same bed.
Co-sleeping as it seems to be known in the States.
The distinction between the two arguments being the age of the child and whether it was awake or asleep.
I don’t think it’s wrong for parents to engage in a bit of gentle consentual loving whilst their sleeping baby is in the bed, although I do think that it would be wrong to indulge in some more vigorous rumpy pumpy next to a three year old who could wake up at any minute and ask awkward questions.
Anyway, here’s some interesting thoughts on the subject from iVillage.
