If I turn all the lights off in my flat, it is still not dark.
The guy in the house next door is into over the top outside Christmas decorations. His house is festooned with lights and there is a herd of reindeer grazing on his front lawn, each animal picked out with an array of bulbs.
But, you know, I still love Christmas like a child. On a tour of the town with Ruf last year, I insisted on going past all the houses where I knew there would be huge blown up Santas, lighted snowmen and an assortment of Rudolph looky-likeys. The bigger the display, the more lightbulbs, the better as far as I am concerned.
He looked askance at me before reminding me that he was not one of my children. I know, I know, I still point out trains to them with excitement. But I digress as usual.
It’s not that I want every house to be a blazing blob of coloured tungsten, I do worry about my own eco-footprint. But I love it when people enter into the spirit of the season.
Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas!!!

Mee Too! I did this one night last week with a young niece visiting from interstate. We drove around the neighbourhood for hours ooing and ahhing at the fairylight displays.
Merry Christmas to you too!
Hurrah! I am not alone, Princess x
Decorated houses are the best thing in the world, I think! The tackier, the better…my son is grown now and I no longer have the companionship of a fellow afficianado, , but the neighborhoods that devote themselves to this display are well-known, and it’s easy to take a right into one or more of them and just get lost in the joy of the season…for me, there’s nothing better…yes, just thinking about it makes me joyous! Merry Christmas to all!!!
Hey Happy Camper and Welcome! Merry Christmas to a fellow light-lover :)
