I’m going to have to repeat myself here because, as with the Best Action Movie, the best adaptation of book to film has to go to Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings.
I have read this rather intimidating tome three times – once before the book and twice after. The scriptwriters get rid of the less interesting scenes (with the trees) and focus on the action and heroism, the hope and the fear. The characterisations were perfect and, reading the book with those actors in my head, really heightened my enjoyment the second time around.
Is he still going to be in charge of the Hobbit? I really hope so.
Although I read on the ‘net that Jedward would be auditioning for prime dwarf parts. I’m hoping that was someone’s idea of a joke.

Nice call Ms Cake. All three movies were great and well on target from the books.
Can you imagine the out cry if they hadn’t been true to the original story?
Excellent choice. I like making a long day of it and watching the three movies back-to-back.
Happy MCW!
Good morning Joanna,
Great choice, I loved the books and the movies. The adaptation was done quite well. At the end of the movie, you didn’t have the feeling that you missed something.
Happy clip day!
This is good to know as i have never read the hobbit! but you never read to kill a mockingbird so we even out. yay! happy MCW
I’ve never read OR seen the movie, but Mr. Boxer has and enjoyed both. Great pick. One I wouldn’t have considered, but I’m glad to see the clip. Nicley played Ms.Cake. Happy MCW!
I read J. R. R. Tolkien’s trilogy when I was in high school and never really liked them. It was required reading and I treated it as such. My youngest loves these movies and I’ve sat through parts of them but they just don’t interest me. They’re a gazzilion dollar industry so they must be doing something right – just not for me.
Happy MCW!
