Boxer’s choice this week was Best Action Movie.
Obviously, as everyone knows, I love most of the Star Trek films with The Wrath of Khan being my favourite.
However, so as not to be seen as settling into a groove, I have to give you The Terminator. Arnie at his best. Monosyllabic and menacing. And, of course, the wonderful Michael Biehn.
But for rip-roaring, rollicking action and adventure, the vote has to go to The Lord of The Rings trilogy. I loved the books, although in places the prose could be hard going – especially the scenes with the trees. However, Peter Jackson’s cellular interpretation was magnificient. Aragorn was everything I had ever imagined and the lush, yet stark scenery of New Zealand will be fixed in my mind forever. Three films where even my kids forgot their differences and could be persuaded to sit for almost nine hours over a holiday weekend and just lose themselves in the struggle between good and evil.

I remeber as a teenager seeing the Terminator in the cinema and leaving with my head totally reeling from it! A bit like when I saw Back to the future, lol.
Great movie, (Terminator) and great choice. Didn’t see Lord of the Rings.
Happy MCW.
Terminator all the way.
Terminator was the only good movie James Cameron ever made and one of the most original sci-fi movies ever. Loved it. Michael Biehn was pretty dandy eye candy, too. Happy MCW!
Thanks for all the nice comments !
The Culinary Smackdown info will be announced on my blog Late tomorrow afternoon.
Good evening Joanna,
Fine job, they were both good choices. Four very good movies.
Oh yes, in the Austrian alps these creatures grow …
:)
The Terminator was definitely on my short list for best action movies. Original storyline and the Police Station scene was the best. I cringe every time I see the scene where Arnold cuts out his eye. Great movie made better by the fact that Arnold didn’t have many lines. Lord of the Rings, ehh, not so much.
Happy MCW!
