The Milk River Madman has selected Worst Sequels as this weeks theme.
Ruf and I talked this through and eventually agreed upon both the Jaws follow-ups but, particularly, Jaws 3 which was just a cheap way to tap into a great fear without a good story as foundation.
and the two Matrix follow-ups but, particularly, The Matrix Reloaded because the trailer promised so much but showed the sum of anything that it had to offer.
Two more Appaling Choices. I’m sitting here with the bucket at the ready and having so much fun. It’s a hideous MCW and I’m just loving it…
I believe the Matrix sequels were made with all the best intentions to tell a great story. Which is why their miserable failure to do so makes me so darn pissed off. Happy Movie Clip Wednesday!

These days I quite looking at the trailers: they show you the best bits, you don’t have to pay money to see the film and they’re over very quickly.

Those Matrix sequels were hideous! Bloody awful. So were the American Pie sequels, especially when they couldn’t get any of the original cast to join except Jims father.
Not that I would watch American Pie though, no no. I’m way too posh for that.
I don’t know, if you can get past the fact that Keanu Reeves looks like an altar boy, Matrix is not as bad as a lot of the other picks today. Now Jaws 3D, that was truely horrible. I like Lou Gosset Jr, but he was awful in this. And a lot of the scenes were created for the 3D affect, not because they were need for the story. Totally stupid plot too. Bravo.

I didn’t even bother with The Matrix sequels. For me ‘The Trail of the Pink Panther’ (1984) must be the most utterly awful and expoitative sequel of all time featuring, as it does, archive footage of the by then deceased Peter Sellers cobbled together to form some kind of a plot.

Roses – I agree. Sometimes, it’s a great time saver – I can never believe just how much of the good stuff they give you in the trailers these days but am always very surprised when the movie turns out to live up to the hype.
