Movie Clip Wednesday, hosted here whilst Anonymous Boxer does other things.
Want to play? Just tell me you’re up in the comments.
I had been learning karate for about three years before I watched either Enter The Dragon or the original Karate Kid. I had no idea what the other students were on about when they joked about ‘Wax On Wax Off’, although, as a mother, I rather prefer Jackie Chan’s more recent ‘pick your coat up’ version.
I recall how my sensei kept on saying who’s seen ‘Enter The Dragon’ and I would be the only student in the class without their hand up. So, for the sake of future grading possibilities, I bit the bullet the next time it was on TV.
There is something so perfect about Bruce Lee. I guess it’s the effortlessness… but also the realism. With others you have to suspend belief because it is too incredible but with Bruce, everything he did seemed humanly possible.

Hello Cake,
This is perhaps not the appropriate forum for my message but I am not sure if an email would be more or less spammy!
We exchanged comments way back in 2007/08 and you will be thrilled to discover that I have dedicated my novel, Dark by the River, to you and a few other blog buddies from that time. It’s a woman-in-jeopardy, crime-in-high-places saga, some of which you might recognise from an old blog-story I wrote. If you are interested, you can find it in the Kindle section at amazon.co.uk
There is a prequel, Dawn by the River, which has a slightly perverse twist at the end. Don’t know if it is your cup of tea but a publisher who rejected the manuscript said it was “good stuff”. It’s certainly different!
I use the nom de plume Elli Fitz.
Best wishes,
Toby.
(In case you should wonder, the character named Daniela is not me!!! But her story needed to be told in a specific way.)
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon gets my vote even though it was preposterous and too long. Maybe I was just mesmerised by an oriental beauty who can kick ass!

Great movie. The guy was HOT! Every muscle on his body is perfect. :)
Good morning Joanna,
I saw Enter the Dragon at the drive-in, in a station wagon with a bed in the back. My date and I enjoyed the movie, yet I don’t remember much of it (the movie that is). I enjoyed the Karate Kid ” what belt the you have? JC Penney 3.19″ What a great line.
I’m up late. Sorry my work schedule is still an issue.

Toby! Congratulations on getting published! I shall try to get over and take a look… although my Kindle remains in its box unused. Not enough hours in the day at the moment!
Amy, I agree. He’s muscular in a believable way – not over-bulked like some of his successors and imitators.
I know the work problem, Karl. I’m burning the candle at both ends myself but thanks for playing x
I too love that line about the belt. Too many people obsess over the colour of the strip of cloth around their waist. It’s the journey not the destination!
Thank you for the response. The few who I have managed to contact do not seem impressed! I don’t know if they were offended by the subject matter or my lousy writing. Lol. Hope you enjoy my stories if you have time to look at them.
Best wishes.

Toby, if you want to write me an article about how it all came about, I would be happy to use it as the basis for a post – I always enjoyed your work and am happy to help you promote x
Interesting idea, thank you. I will write something on how the stories came about. They are self-published not proper published but you might find the background intriguing. I’ll send it from my doc2blog email address with the subject heading “dawn by the river”.

I shall look forward to it, Toby :)
