Ruf complains bitterly about my frozen extremities.
We’ve tried hot water bottles and socks but, on the coldest of winter nights, neither is enough and even Ruf’s layer of blubber cannot maintain the warmth in the bed. One evening, we both had to wear a tshirt and socks, whereas we naturally prefer naked.
So, whilst shopping at his favourite store, Lidl, he was excited to pick up the answer to his prayers.
And, to him, they are probably the sexiest lingerie in the world.
I’m seriously considering getting a second pair for my flat. Sleeping alone, I currently require three hot water bottles, thermal pyjamas and bedsocks to stay warm enough to sleep without having the heating on all night. Now some of you might say the latter is the sexier option… but I have to pay my own gas bills these days. And, in any case, continual heating is really bad for the complexion, so I’d rather be non-sexy when I’m on my own and try to retain what little youthful bloom I have left.
Bed Bootees, that’s definitely the way forward.

I remember a documentary, from my youth…. it was on the early Colony Days….
Along with the chamberpot, was a metal pan attached to a long wooden handle. The bed warmer was to scoop hot coals from the fire, and place between the mattresses about 1/2 hour before going to bed.
This would allow enough time for heat to radiate upwards to warm the bed…
Oh ya, most of the modern world got away from “open burning” as a way to heat there homes…

I’d forgotten how cold British bedrooms are LOL. Houses over here are always well insulated and well-heated by comparison!
My flat is actually warmer than Ruf’s being above another. His has concrete walls and floors with laminate. And he has a futon so it’s all much closer to the ground.
Ahhhhhhhh tis so hot over here at the mo no blankets are required and you need the ceiling fan or the air conditioning on.

I warm up a magicbag (health bag?) in the microwave and go to bed with it, usually putting it on my feet. Sometimes on the small of my back, if it’s a bit sore. Works good, and stays warm surprisingly long!

I wear socks to bed and we have forced air heat on all winter long… I freeeeezzzzeee! if people don’t understand this – they just need to touch the feet of a freezing one. socks suddenly look sexy ;)
