The Milk River Madman has selected Favourite Foreign Actress as the theme next week.
Now, some weeks ago, he chose Favourite Foreign Actor and I posted clips of Gerard Depardieu and the lovely Catherine Deneuve so I suspect that La Belle Catherine will be appearing on at least one blog post this week.
I, however, am not going with Madame Deneuve but another French speaker – ok, she’s from Canada but that’s foreign to me!
I fell in love with Genevieve Bujold when she starred as Anne Boleyn to Richard Burton’s Henry VIII in Anne of The Thousand Days. Later, she intrigued again in Coma but it was her Anne Boleyn for which she will always be remembered. So beautiful and graceful, with that exquisite accent…

Canada is foreign. You could have gone with any US actress and been good. I always thought Geneviève Bujold was French. Back in the 70s and 80s she was a very hot acress. I loved her accent and recently saw her in Dead Ringers. She was good in Coma too. I’m surprised you didn’t note that gave up the demanding job of Captain of the USS Voyager (“Star Trek: Voyager” (1995)) after only one day of filming and then Kate Mulgrew took over.
Nappy MCW and New Year!
Buzz, Until I researched her for this, I thought she was French too! And I had no idea she was the original Janeway. Im sure she would have been brilliant, although Kate Mulgrew does grow on you, I suppose :)
French or Canadian, she is gorgeous. Very underrated and under-appreciated. I really thought Anne of 1000 days would skyrocket her to household name stardom. Happy MCW.
Good afternoon Joanna,
Hope your holiday was good. Great choice, in this clip she displays how truly talented she is.
Have a happy clip day!

Brilliant, vastly underrated actress – she has a small but significant role in the grim yet strangely uplifting ‘Last Night’ along with David Cronenberg, the director of ‘Dead Ringers’. Been in love with her ever since ‘Coma’.
