Milk River Madman has chosen Favourite Foreign Actor for this week’s theme which, of course, could cause a bit of a problem. All those American and Australian thespians would be foreign to me and I suspect there wll be a few British actors showing up on people’s lists this morning.
I thought long and hard – Arnold Schwarzenegger has always given lots of pleasure, as has Vincent Cassell, Rutger Hauer and Dolph Lundgren but I think the foreign actor who straddles my cinematic experience and who came to mind when first I saw the theme selection would be Gerard Depardieu. The accent, the whole broken-nosed, Gallic, hulking chic. He’s got it all!

I guess you could have gone with any American actor you want and called him foreign. Bwahahaha I think I’ve only seen 3 of his movies – Green Card, Christopher Columbus (I forget the exact title) and Vivaldi. The last one was a really good food porn movie that I enjoyed way more than I thought I would. I can’t say I’m a big fan of his because I always have trouble understanding him with that accent. Se la vie!
Happy MCW!
I always loved that F&S clip! Great big, truffle hunting, bear of a man! Yes!

It doesn’t get much better than Depardieu and Deneuve! Only he can get away with being both schlumpy and sexy. Must be a French thing. Great choice and Happy MCW!

I’ve never watched any of his movies. I know he was hot over here for a bit. That Deneuve chick is smoking hot. When I have “favorite foreign actress” as a theme she will be in the running on looks alone. Happy MCW.
This guy is very not my type. too much…everything. Grrrherhahahaha But enjoyed jean de florette might give that a whirl. wasnt he one of the musketeers in the iron mask movie? he was funny. but i wouldnt want to get nekkid with him. Fun choice and thanks for the clips. happy MCW.

does Hugh Jackman count as foreign? S’cuse me while I mop up my drool! Hugh Jackman, mmmmmm……………………………
Buzz – I know what you mean because you do have to listen very carefully to work out what he’s saying sometimes… but that’s all part of the charm :)
Hey Jo!!! That sketch is a corker isn’t it. Altho my fave will always be the one with the Ralph McTell Guitar Book.
Moi – Shlumpy and Sexy – exactly!
MRM – Damn, who am I gonna pick for that week now then???
chickory – Jean de Florette and Manon Des Sources are brilliant films. Yes, he was a musketeer too. I agree that Im not sure about the nakedness thing but I suspect his voice could probably charm away my reservations :)
OMGOMGOMG!!! My daughter will never forgive me but Hugh Jackman – I forgot Hugh Jackman! Thanks for reminding me, Leah! I guess I count foreign as not speaking English… but, still, Hugh Jackman that smile, that body. Excuse me, I need to take a moment :)
French & Saunders make me laugh! Love them. Hugh and Gerard are great, but I like another Gerard (Butler)! I always liked him as an actor but I saw a picture of him in a kilt and fell in love.
LOL, I think he’s Scottish so I cant really call him foreign to me – did you see him in 300? Fabulous bod :)
