The Milk River Madman is still in charge and has chosen ‘First Date Movie’ as this week’s theme.
The first movie I went to see with my ex was this glorious classic. Fabulous music, wonderful acting and a great story.
And I can’t mention The Long Good Friday without including this clip of the fabulous Helen Mirren and a very naughty, youthful Charlie from Casualty.
And the first movie with Ruf was less glorious but still very enjoyable.

The Long Good Friday was a great romp. Thanks for reminding me of it Joanna.
Dame Helen is wonderful, she was always good but just gets better with age… Have you seen RED yet?
Happy MCW
I should see that “Good Friday” movie. Happy Wednesday! LTNS.

I love Bob Hopkins and Helen Mirren, but I don’t think I’ve seen this. Will have to look for it. Happy MCW!

I would still lick every inch of Helen Mirren if given the chance. The Long Good Friday looks great. Never went to the Davinci Code. BLASPHEMY!! Happy MCW.
hmmm…with the ex it was Planes, Trains, and Automobiles…with my lover it was “The Social Network” which all things considering how we met and all was appropos and a great film.

Good afternoon Joanna,
Those are some pretty interesting looking first date movies. I haven’t seen the first one and I avoided the second one because the reviews were so bad. Did you like the Da Vinci Code?
Happy clip day!

I haven’t seen the Long Good Friday but have seen the DaVinci Code and liked it although I was a little confused by some of it. A good, safe first date movie (a little tamer than I expected from you).
Happy MCW!
“I put money in all your pockets! I treated you right well, even when you was out of order, right?!!!”… What a great film, right at the beginning of Bob Hoskins’ career. And is that Charlie out of ‘Casualty’ I spy, sharing a lift with the eminently lickable Helen Mirren?

Kenny, I haven’t seen ‘The Social Network’ but, bearing in mind this thing we do, I know I really should :)
Karl, We actually quite enjoyed The Da Vinci Code. Ruf was fascinated by the flagellating monk :) Whatever happens, you must watch The Long Good Friday. British movie making at its best.
LGF is so far above the DaVinci Code! Not confusing but with a great plot. You must watch it :)
Yup, it’s young Charlie and Bob Hoskins just getting started and Helen Mirren doing what she has always done best :)
I just love Helen Mirren ever since I saw her in “Excalibur”! (Still one of my favorite movies.)
My very first date movie was, “Klute”.

Excalibur is one of my faves too – the young Liam Neeson all beardy and just lots of testosterone :)
