Durex Play Massage 2 in 1 Review

Ruf gives great massage!

So, when the lovely people at Durex sent me a sachet of their new Durex Play Massage 2 in 1 Personal Lubricant as part of my Pick & Licks package, I was very excited. I’m a great fan of multi-purpose products and the thought of only one bottle on the bedside table was very appealing.

A good massage requires a good handful of oil and, sadly, one sachet was not enough to give the product a proper test so I requested a bottle.

Lying on my bed with Ruf sat perched precariously on my narrow hips, I waited expectantly. Being a great fan of coconut or almond oil warmed in his hands, he was not so enthusiastic at the prospect, especially as, in his view, substances that purport to fulfil more than one function tend to fail miserably at both. But, since I was insistent… and very naked… he complied with my entreaties.

The bottle is a great shape for squeezing with one hand and, pouring a liberal helping into his palm, he began applying pressure to my tense traps and hunched shoulders. It felt nice. There was no real smell, which is always part of the joy of a massage with an essential oil but, since we were multi-tasking, I accepted that I couldn’t have everything.

After about two minutes, he started to huff and puff. Because it is water-based (so that it doesn’t interfere with condom integrity when used as a lube), it soaks into the skin very quickly and becomes sticky.

Ruf squeezed out a larger quantity and continued in his work. It was a great rub down but my willing masseur was definitely getting very snarky because the longer he went on and the more he applied, the stickier and less workable it became. The whole thing about a massage is that the oil is supposed to facilitate the smooth movement of the hands over the skin of the muscle that requires attention. Feeling a sticky juddering really interferes with the tension-relieving process.

In order to pacify him, I had to test out its claims for the other function of the 2 in 1. As a lubricant, it works as nicely as Durex Play’s other lubes. And massaging a smaller area didn’t seem to produce the same difficulties. Certainly, using it to perform my ministrations seemed to stop Ruf from complaining. Silky smooth and very effective, it is hard to describe the taste but it is not unpleasant and not ‘chemical-y’.

So, in review, as a massage oil, it didn’t really cut the mustard but I found the squeezy bottle a huge improvement on the pump action distribution method of other lubes and, as a lubricant, Durex Play Massage 2 in 1 worked in the highly satisfactory way that I have come to expect from the Durex Play range.
