Culinary ThrowDown SmackDown Challenge

With Ruf being a vegan and me on the anti-Candida diet (no processed wheat or meat, sugar, dairy, yeast, fungus, mould), Kym’s suggestion of Pepperoni was always going to cause us a problem.

However, not to be deterred, we have managed to find sausages that comply with both sets of dietary exclusions.

Dragonfly organic SoySage to be exact.

They also do some really nice burgers as well.

Anyway, with new potatoes, diced sweet potatoes and brocolli, all swimming in a fabulous onion and garlic gravy, Ruf succeeded in knocking up a nice plateful of sausage in the kitchen…

… and he did something similar in the bedroom later too ;P

  • I can’t help but feel that a certain blogger, blogger identity starting with an “S”, will get off on this one. :-)

  • Well I must say that anytime my sausage can help you out sexy Cake please feel free to use it as you will!!!!! I does seem to be filling, and void of a significant amount of fat, calories, etc etc.

(The offer also extends to you sexy Sulpicia!)

  • “Soysage” ? LOL !!! Way to go !

  • Very nice. I really like the idea of the gravy! Ruf cooks in the bedroom? Toaster oven?

  • Moi

I was surprised not to find more sausage jokes running around this time out, but here they are! Good on you both for rising to the challenge and providing a soy alternative to all this pork. Anything swimming in onions and garlic is good by Moi!

  • Good afternoon Joanna,

I knew you could do it. Good job on the creative solution.

I see Ruf took his instructions for later, right off box under when.

  • Boxer will be thrilled to see the vegetarian alternative. i found this more appetizing as each new pepperoni recipe moved me closer to disgust…not cause of the dishes but that ingredient. yuck and yuck again.

thanks, for your kind words regarding my rough morning. xo

  • Oooh, I’se thinkin’ a good vegan recipe wins EXTRA points…but whar’s the pics of yore kitchen?? I’se expectin’ a Trekkie kitchen!

  • Nice!! You are clearly a true Chef (and Ruf too) and I am a ….. hack! I think I want to be a silly soysage!!

  • well by george, Jo Jo! vegan pepperoni!? You definitely score points for even finding such a thing, then making it into something edible! And a good edible!

    Thanks for playing!

Sorry, I just realized I never saw your entry. I have to do it from home because your site is fire walled at work. And I sometimes forget. Anyway, even though pepperoni was more of an annoyance for most of us, it was a dietary nightmare for you. And I think you, out of everyone else, really stepped up and embraced the challenge ia a unique way. I’m with Heff in laughing at Soysage, but I admire the originality. Nice job.
