Whether it’s Madonna or Kool and the Gang, the sentiment is still the same – Cherish!

The nurturing and appreciation of something you hold dear – a person, a relationship, both require time and energy to flourish.

For the first time in my life I feel truly loved.

He’s not my soul mate, in many ways he can be my complete opposite and it’s no good saying “I wish I’d met you thirty years ago” because we were not the same people then.

But the him and me of today, we meet and correspond on so many levels. Physically and emotionally, we cannot get enough of each other.

He says I allow him to express his love without embarrassment and I acknowledge the little things that he does to look after me, which makes him want to do it all the more.

For me, he fills up my ‘jug of love’ with his compliments and his love so that I never have a chance to wonder whether he cares – I always know. And I can return the emotion with gusto, just the way that I always dreamed.

Just the sheer joy of rolling over in bed and touching his skin… or falling asleep holding his hand… or his balls as is his preference.

Being awoken in the middle of the night to his whispered ‘I love you’ and the squeeze of his hand on my hip before drifting back to our separate dreams.

Such simple pleasures that many couples overlook in their quest for some elusive and expansive eternal passion.

Perhaps we do appreciate each other more and don’t take things for granted because we cannot be together all the time?

Whatever it is that allows us to feel this way, we will nourish our relationship in the hope that it never ends.
