I had tried to call Ruf some time before to alert him to the fact that I would be working that morning.
Working meaning that I was going to test out one of the toys I had been sent to review. A toy that had hardly hit the market yet and I was one of the first to put it through its paces. Some days I really love my job.
But there was no response from his phone so I carried on regardless. Half-way through my sojourn with the Soraya, the new toy from the Lelo Insignia range, his face appeared on the buzzing iPhone next to me. Obviously, I would not normally have taken a call at that precise moment, but it was Ruf and I really wanted to hear his voice.
After my initial ‘hello’, he launched into a discussion of business matters without allowing me time to tell him that I was actually half-way to an orgasm. It didn’t really help with the successful outcome when I had to try to drag my brain back to discussing the effects of search engine optimisation and the importance of social media but I did my best to respond coherently.
‘Are you ok? You sound rather peculiar…’
On receiving the explanation, he laughed out loud. Strangely, there was something about the modulation of that sound that echoed in my chest and my head setting off a cascade of sensory changes. Combined with the extraordinarily pleasant sensations in my nether regions, it seemed to do the trick.
Suddenly, he found himself walking along his local high street, responding to casual greetings thrown his way by passing friends and listening to the staccato breathing of his girlfriend trying to achieve an orgasm.
‘You really are the maddest woman I’ve ever been involved with!’
But he listened anyway…

Kenny – I think that’s the thing, it’s not peculiar to one sex or the other but a symptom of any failing marriage.
